The risk of eating hooked on technology: eat consciously

Many parents are surprised that their children do not want to eat with them, they do not understand why they they prefer to take a tray with food and go to the other side of the house to eat them alone in the company of your mobile or tablet. However, it is possible that they have been the ones who have accustomed their children to eat like that without realizing it.

Parents are concerned that their children eat and eat properly, and to do so they use the television, the tablet, the mobile phone ... or whatever! Anything for your child to be entertained while eating, so it seems that they make sure they will eat, which is their goal. And yes, he may eat, but is he aware of what he is eating? Is he feeding correctly?


The risks of eating in disconnection

Eating in front of the television or the tablet, the children remain absorbed in the cartoons, in the fashion series or in the game that they have in front of the device, while we are putting the spoon or the fork in the mouth, and little we need to chew the food too.

The most important thing is to realize that from a very young age we are depriving them of the experience of tasting food, of perceiving the textures, of the aromas ... in short, of all the experience that we have when eating consciously. We teach them to eat in disconnection, in disconnection from themselves, from food and from their family.


The time to sit down to eat together as a family is something precious, that little by little it seems that we are losing, it is a wonderful time to talk together, to enjoy in joy a delicious meal in the company of those you love the most. It is important to identify what are the things that do not allow us to enjoy this, such as having the television on while eating, or playing with the tablet or wasapeando with the mobile, and this is important for the parents too!

The rush and the express kitchen

Another big enemy that is currently watching us is the rush, yes, we live accelerated and we do not realize how much! Express cuisine and eating in 10 minutes seems to be fashionable, and this is disastrous on many levels. When we eat in a hurry, we do not eat relaxed and calm, we get tense and this provokes arguments, apart from bad digestions. All this also favors the possibility of gastrointestinal alterations and an undesirable increase in body weight.


It is also important to leave aside issues that preoccupy or enrage us for another time and not take advantage of meals and dinners to get dirty laundry or to influence academic or behavioral issues of our children who have us upset.

How to change to eat consciously

And what can we do? The positive part is that we have the capacity to make changes for our benefit and that of our family.

1. Be aware of how we relate to ourselves, with our family and with food.

2. Check if we give adequate time and space to meals, see what distracting elements we lack to be able to enjoy family meetings while we eat and of our loved ones.

3. Take advantage to create a harmonious space where we can converse with tranquility and joy where we feel happy to connect with each other while consciously enjoying an excellent meal that was sure prepared with much love.
