The ink of the tattoos negatively influences the immune system

Currently many skins are decorated with tattoos. A drawing, a face or a special phrase are the motives that inspire these designs. However, making the decision to get a tattoo is not something that should be done lightly. This act supposes that the body receives a foreign body, as is the ink, from which until now few studies have been carried out to verify its effects.

Now, a group of researchers have focused his work in determining the concrete causes of the ink of the tattoos in the human body. An influence that reaches the human system and that delays the processes of wound healing in the body as a result of some compounds of these products.

Delayed healing

Many are the compounds in the ink of a tattoo. This study indicates that among these components are nickel, chromium, manganese, cobalt or titanium dioxide. All of them, when they come into contact with the organism, perform a particular "trip"by the human body to reach the lymph nodes, where they accumulate influencing the human system.

The first most notable effect is the delay in healing. Consequence accompanied by inflammation in the dermis and a constant itching sensation. Both the titanium dioxide and other components of the tattoos are assimilated permanently. Other compounds used for black ink such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, have been identified as causing cancer.

Other effects related to tattoo ink, and the accumulation of lymph node ink, can interfere with the detection of cancer cells. "If these pigments accumulate in the lymph nodes, they can interfere with cancer diagnostic techniques," he explains. Ines Schreiver, co-author of this investigation.

Alert of the European Union

This research is not the first to warn about the effects of tattoo ink on the skin. The European Health Commission, in his report "Safety of tattoos and permanent makeup" also pointed out some time ago about the presence of products that entail a great risk for those who make these drawings in the dermis.

This report reveals that at least the 60% of these organic dyes can reach aromatic amines. These components are very linked to the appearance of some types of cancer such as bladder cancer. These "ingredients" are also used in other industries such as rubber, aluminum and textile producers.

This study also reveals that in the European tattoo market, very chemical products are present in the inks. dangerous such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, 43%, heavy metals, 9%, and other preservative types, 6%. On the other hand, 11% of these products have analyzed have presented microbiological contamination.

From this commission it is noticed that there is a greater risk when all these substances are exposed to the sun. When exposed to the light of the sun, they decompose and it is easier for them to be absorbed by the skin of the tattoo artist. Experts estimate the number of people with this type of drawing in their dermis who can suffer an infection by 5%.

On the other hand, experts warn that not only can health problems related to infections or cancers occur. The skin can also suffer a lot in this regard. The dermis may suffer from a pigmentation disorder when these products are broken down or when passing through some type of laser surgery to get rid of this tattoo.
