A lot of television affects the quality of mobility

At present, children have many ways to have fun, from going out to the street to playing with their friends, going through a swimming course or watching the series that they like the most with online platforms. East fan It is broad, but not all options are healthy for the little ones in the house. There are some that make the health of minors seriously suffer.

Staying on the couch, for example, is one of the least recommended options since it favors the sedentary lifestyle with all the problems that entails. The consequences of not moving are well known by all, now to this list we must add a new negative effect that has been found in the study of the University of Buffalo and that emphasizes that spending too much time in front of the television reduces mobility to the individual.

Move, even if you do not exercise

Those responsible for this investigation followed closely 134,000 individuals in those who observed their movement patterns, if they did some exercise a week, they went for a walk or spent five or more hours in front of the television. The authors of the study qualified as activities sedentary to sit, watch TV, time in front of the computer and naps. On the other hand, mobility practices were divided into two: low intensity activities (housework, walking or shopping) and moderate activities (jogging, or a light exercise).

After observing the movement patterns of the participants, it was checked that the risk of disability increased by 25% and 65%, respectively, between those who watched three to four hours of television a day, or those who watched it five or more hours a day. On the contrary, those who presented a higher level of movement, presented better motor data.

"The message is: move more, pass less time sitting"explains Loretta DiPietro, the main author of the research, who adds that it is not necessary to perform high intensity exercise to avoid the consequences of sedentary lifestyle." This message does not mean exercise. It means not sitting so long in a row. Take a short walk. Climb some stairs. Walk the house. Walk through the office. If you're watching TV, stand up and walk a bit during the announcements. "

Combat sedentary lifestyle

Moving is always a better option to have fun than to sit still. Parents should bet on more activity in their children. These are some recommendations that the Perseus program Give to families:
