Criticisms to the Government to reduce the VAT of the clubs and not the one of the diapers

An expense that increases in the case of large families.

Petition that was not heard by the Government, who has opted to lower this tax on drinks in bars and nightclubs. A fact that has caused some criticism of this organization to understand that has been neglected to a basic product in families.
Impossibility of rebate
From FEFN it is remembered that they have been asking for drop in VAT of the diapers to consider totally unconscionable that they are taxed with 21% being an essential item used daily by millions of families. So last year he developed a campaign on Change.org where he got more than 182,000 signatures which, subsequently, were delivered to the Congress of Deputies.
These obtained signatures were addressed to the president of the government, together with the request for defense within the Ecofin, Economic Affairs Council of the European Union, of this popular demand widely supported by citizens and that affects not only large families, but any home with the presence of a child .
The response to the petition informed FEFN of the impossibility of lowering VAT on children's products after stating that "the European standard it does not allow the application of reduced type some to the infantile diapers that pay to the general type of the Tax of 21%. "This organism affirms not to understand the reasons by which the EU has established that these articles can not enter the group of products that can have a reduced tax, of 10%, as is the case of feminine hygiene articles or diapers for adults.
From FEFN it is considered unfair that diapers, necessary product for children, have the same tax burden as articles like jewelry or cosmetics. Even more so now, after the Government reduced the VAT on the consumption of nightclubs and nightclubs, which will go from 21 to 10%, which seems to us already unprecedented, as explained by the president of this body, Eva Holgado.
Spending on diapers
From FEFN some data are also offered to understand the impact of diapers on the family economy. Although the final price is based on the age of the baby and the brand chosen by the parents, the cost is around the average 50 euros a month for each child. This amount has to be assumed by the parents from the birth of the child until approximately two years of life of the same.
In the case of large families, with three or more children, this expense doubles or triples. A waste that extends throughout the years, and in homes with multiple births, the cost also shoots up, since they have to multiply it at the same time by two or by three, which means facing every month 100 or 150 euros only in diapers.
Other FEFN requests
The one of the diapers is not the only request that FEFN has made to the Government. This body also raised with the Executive the possibility of extending paternity leave in the case of large families, which after the last reform remains in the 28 days like the rest of homes. A novelty that does not meet the special needs of these homes.
