Enthusiasm: how to feel it and infect it
The enthusiasm is the exaltation of mood that is produced by something that captivates or that is admired. This ancient Greek concept is precious that says that enthusiasm is "having a god within you". Currently, when we talk about enthusiasm we say that it is what moves us to take an action and to favor a cause or carry out a project.
So the enthusiasm can be understood as the motor of behavior. Who is enthusiastic about something, strives in what interests you whether personal, work or in any area of life, to take it.
The engine of enthusiasm
But what is it that makes we feel this enthusiasm for life and what happens in it? What makes some people seem usually enthusiastic about almost anything and others feel discouraged and want nothing? Without having to talk about depression, they just look more apathetic and boring, they do things because they have to do them, as an effort and as pulling a car by obligation.
Is it born with enthusiasm or is it something we choose? Daniel Goleman, American psychologist and author of the work Emotional intelligence says that "emotional intelligence is a way of interacting with the world that takes feelings into account, and includes skills such as impulse control, self-awareness, motivation, enthusiasm, perseverance, empathy, agility mental". And like many other experts he tells us that the enthusiasm, like any other emotional intelligence skill, it is born and IS DONE.
There are many people who after experiencing disappointments, duels, losses or disappointments lose their natural enthusiasm or let's say they disconnect from it. And others who in spite of any setback choose to learn from these circumstances and become wiser, stronger and more committed to their happiness.
The engine of enthusiasm would be, therefore, at the base of how we manage what happens to us and whether or not we have been taught to deal with the frustration and obstacles that arise in life. It is also part of the ability to value the small, the awareness of feeling fortunate and grateful for each day, experience and event we live and have.
Reasons why we lose enthusiasm
1. Frustration Own people who are focused on what they would like, full of expectations and desires lived from lack. This childishness before anything that is not as expected led them to frustration, to anger and to negativize with their thoughts what is and is happening.
2. Lack of valuation. Enthusiasm is lost when people do not know how to take advantage of what they have and this circumstance prevents them from creating magic with the present moment. They lock themselves into the idea they have of what would be better or worse, without being able to see the opportunities of the present that is offered as a gift before them.
How to spread enthusiasm to others
Having enthusiasm is also and, of course, a choice. One can choose at any time to see the glass half full or half empty, smile or frown, say positive or negative things, create a good time or complain, feel grateful or lacking and casquetoso, trust or not.
Living permanently without enthusiasm is a choice that can be costly. In the end, enthusiasm in life is an act of love for oneself, which allows you to choose to be happy and live in love with life.
Contagion to others is still an act of generosity and love, just as we do it for ourselves, it is about doing it with others, respecting their moment, their rhythm and their feelings, contributing our joy and support without enduring the other, without carrying it on their backs.
Simple acts such as smiling on the street to others, greeting, being nice, listening, proposing plans, reminding the person if he needs it that he is loved and validated, that he can, that we trust is his personal power, are ways of encouraging. Irradiating our own enthusiasm as we infect others and this is also a gift for ourselves.
