The Ministry of Education proposes to add one more hour of Physical Education
Going to school is not just about sitting at a desk and listening to the teacher's lesson. These centers can also be a place to learn several values of life, from the responsibility of adapting to schedules, to empathy for classmates. You can even begin to instill healthy habits such as exercise.
In this sense, the Physical education It is a very important subject for the youngest to learn healthy lifestyle habits and renounce a sedentary lifestyle. For this reason, this matter is valued by the Government and shows that the intention of the Ministry of Education has proposed increasing this discipline by one hour per week.
Start in Ceuta and Melilla
Marcial Marín, Secretary of State for Education, Vocational Training and Universities, reported in the last Commission of Education and Sports that the Government will increase one hour more than Physical education in elementary schools in Ceuta and Melilla.
A measure that the Government intends to expand to all the territories of Spain and for that reason it encourages the different autonomous communities to follow this decision in their centers. "The goal is to progressively incorporate during the next three academic years one hour of Physical Education per week," explained Marín during his speech on this commission.
This is intended to inculcate in the classroom, and from very early ages, healthy lifestyle habits and promote the practice of exercise to avoid health problems derived from sedentary lifestyle such as obesity or overweight.
Benefits of sport in children
The Government's proposal responds to the need to inculcate healthy habits in the smallest. Among them, the exercise practice, which has important benefits for children:

- From the physical point of view, it is an essential part of a harmonic growth, developing physical qualities (strength, endurance, agility, coordination and flexibility) and specific skills of each sport.
