Spain, second place of early school dropout in the European Union
Building a future means going to school, studying and striving day after day to increase the academic curriculum. However, sometimes students do not fulfill this mission and end up leaving their studies to ensure an uncertain path. A problem that in Spain is a reality since this country is placed in the top positions at the level of school dropout early.
This is indicated by the data of the Eurostat and that place Spain well above the European average. This country has 19% of young people between 18 and 24 years old who have let your studys prematurely and that at most, they completed the first year of high school.
Only Malta surpasses us
Eurostat data points to Spain as the second largest country in the European Union The highest percentage of early school dropout has. Only Malta exceeds the data of this nation to have a percentage of 19.6% in this field. The average in the old continent is 10.7%, a number that when compared to the Spanish result accounts for a very serious problem.
By sex, it is men who present the highest data regarding early school leaving. In particular, a 22,7% in the case of the male sex by 15.1% in the case of women. Even so, in Spain it has been possible to improve its data with respect to previous editions. In 2006, the percentage was 30.3%, at least double that of today.
The goal in Spain is to reach 15% in 2020. Which leaves about 3 years to reduce our data by 4 percentage points. There is a lot of work ahead, but comparing the current situation with that of 10 years ago, it seems that a good way forward has been found.
