Sleeping on your back is good for dental health

Sleeping face up is a little complicated for some people, but it is very beneficial for dental health. According to Iván Malagón, dentist "the temporo-mandibular joint syndrome is a problem that affects the joint that allows the opening and closing of the mouth."

The temporomandibular joints are those that are in front of the ears and that unite the jaw with the skull. The problems of the temporo-mandibular joint usually have their origin in the bad gear between the upper and lower molars, which generate tensions in the muscles of the face and in the ligaments that keep the jaw in its correct position, causing a lack of stability that makes the masticatory system not work properly.

"Sleeping on the back discharges the pressure we exert on the structures that make up the Temporo-mandibular joint, decreasing that intense pain around the ears and radiating to the nape and neck," says Iván Malagón.
