Sever's disease, what it is and how to treat it

What is Sever's disease?

Sever's disease, also called calcaneal epiphysitis, is a bone problem that causes great pain in children. It is usually produced by the inflammation of a growth cartilage in the heel, an area located at the end of a developing bone where, over time, the cartilage cells become bone cells.

While this conversion occurs in bone cells, the growth cartilages expand and unite giving rise to the bones. Sever's disease usually manifests in the stage prior to the adolescent growth spurt.
