We read, the initiative that aims to promote reading from the digital world
Nowadays it is more common to see a child handle a screen than the pages of a book. New technologies have arrived and with them the world has changed. However, this new context does not have to be bad, if you know how to take advantage, these tools can help in many aspects to children.
A good example is the Leemos project, born out of the collaboration of the Jose Manuel Lara Foundation and the Telefónica Foundation. Both entities have opted for an impulse from the reading from the digital world, taking advantage of the tools offered by new technologies and the easy management that new generations have.
Readings in digital format
We read is born as an initiative that proposes to schools the creation of a virtual library to which their students can access. These virtual copies will be promoted in class and will allow any young person who wishes to, to access fragments or complete copies in case the school participates in this program.
The mission of this program is to promote reading offering a free platform and easily accessible to new generations. And not only at school, these virtual tools also allow at home to buy these copies and hook the youngest to these practices that have fallen so much in recent years.
Encourage reading at home
At home you can also encourage the little ones to read. Make children understand that a book (digital or physical) can entertain as much or more than a video game or a movie. These are some tips with which to get the children to dare to immerse themselves in the pages of these stories:
- Let him choose what he wants to read. Imposing is a bad way to encourage reading. Propose yes that can be effective, but never impose. You have to let the child create his tastes in this area and let them decide.
- Do not impose reading. Reading is a fun time, never something imposed that responds to a punishment.
- Understand reading as a game. The books are only for studying, they also have fun and take the children to other worlds.
- The routine of reading. Nothing better to do reading something close than to have children see it every day. To do this, a moment to read is not a bad idea, especially before going to sleep.
- Be interested in its reading. Knowing the tastes of our children and asking them what it is that hooks them into these stories will make their attitude better by making reading a topic of debate.
- Lead by example. The example is the best way to promote the reading of the little ones. The children look for examples to look for and the first models to follow are at home, not only in the parents, but also in the other members of the family.
