5 ideas to stimulate listening and the sense of hearing

It is possible that in the future our children will lose a large number of learning opportunities at home or at school, simply because they are not listening. That is, for not having the ability to pay attention and concentrate on what is said. And it is that learning to listen is more important than it seems.

In addition, at school, much of their learning will be done through oral teaching and the rest by reading. Hence the importance of stimulating, from now on, their sense of hearing and their capacity for attention and concentration.

Ideas to stimulate listening and the sense of hearing

Children can learn to listen and we can teach listening through these fun and didactic games.

1. Musical evenings

We can perform activities with our children that, through auditory stimulation, develop their concentration. Music is a good way. At this age, we can take them to a classical children's concert, or put tapes at home. It is also stimulating to leave a relaxing background music while playing or eating.

2. Tell me a story

By age three, children show great interest in stories. Listening to stories is ideal for reinforcing auditory memory and developing the imagination. We can also propose that they be more consciously fixed in what we say to them, asking them questions, directing their interest towards what is important, etc.

3. Attention!

When it comes to performing auditory stimulation exercises, we must remember that the period of attention they can give us is short. Therefore, you have to present it as a game and look for the best moment: when you are more willing to do things, after having a snack, before going to sleep, etc. When we see him tired and without interest, we will have to leave him for another time.

His vocabulary, moreover, is limited. If we talk to them too long, or if we use too many words that they can not understand, they will end up learning to disconnect ... Just the opposite of what we intend. Little by little, as we progress, we can increase the difficulty of the exercises and games.

4. One time only

A good way to pay attention is that we propose at home to do what they are told the first time. That is, we do not have to repeat things several times. For this, we have to give the orders in the best situations. Thus, when we address them, we will always try to look them in the eyes and in the face. In this way they will be personally challenged and it will be more difficult for them to disconnect. We will be creating a greater communication link and we will help to promote the interest of our children.

5. Silence

Have our children ever heard silence? Nature can help us a lot, if we try to remain silent in the middle of a forest and we help our children pay attention to the singing of birds, to the sound of the stream ... This practice will introduce, surely, very significant elements for children.
