The attitude of key parents in the learning of Mathematics

The parents are the first example to follow what the children have His attitude towards certain aspects will serve as a model for the little ones in the house. In this way if children see how adults hate or are attracted to certain things, they will copy these tastes for themselves. This can be good because with a positive attitude you can get our children to face one of the most rejected subjects: Mathematics.

This is included in a study by the Technological Institute of Costa Rica, TEC, which has found a relationship between the attitude of parents and the learning of Mathematics by children. In this way, a negative attitude on the part of the environment of the minor will make it end by detesting this academic matter and vice versa.

Motivation is everything for children

In order to carry out this study, TEC researchers verified the degree of motivation of several students in different schools in the city of Cartago, in Costa Rica. Those responsible for the study wanted to know to what extent these students they felt stimulated to learn Mathematics and the way in which this subject was conceived at home.

The TEC team detected that almost 68% of students who showed interest in learning mathematics had received at home a motivation from their mother. The percentage was even higher if it was the parents who at home showed a positive attitude towards this matter since in this case it was the 74% of students with a high or very high perception level.

In short, the attitude of parents to certain issues is in most cases an example to follow for the little ones in the house. In this way you always have to find a way to motivate your children so that they will be confronted with the best of minds to subjects that initially have no incentive for them, as in this case Mathematics that a priori may seem something boring and complicated, but with the enough encouragement They can be fun.

Other ways to motivate children

How this study reflects the motivation that is offered from home will be crucial for the little ones to feel or not stimulated in certain matters. In this way, it will be important to encourage the children so that they do not fall apart, no matter how difficult it may seem. Here are some tips with which to wake up the spirit in your children so thatdare everything:

1. Lead by example. Parents are the first to be motivated in the face of difficulties and transmit this encouragement to the little ones.

2. Reasons why it's worth to make an effort. You have to look for reasons that make the child understand that he should not wrinkle in the face of difficulties.

3. Present the effort as something positive. Working hard to achieve the proposed goal should be seen as a necessary attitude to achieve the objectives.

4. Requirement by parents. It is necessary to make the child understand that things are expected of him, with time he himself will demand these goals. That yes, that this does not become something overwhelming.

5. Short-term goals. Getting things in the near future is a good example of how with effort, everything is achieved. Set short-term goals for the child to discover the rewards that are obtained with dedication.

6. Graduated and progressive difficulty. A climber does not start climbing Everest, children must go little by little facing harder challenges that will gradually discover that they are capable of overcoming.

7. Failure as effective as success. Things do not come to the first, do not get the goal to the first only means that you have to try harder or find another way to conquer the goal.
