70% of parents do not have time to be with their children

Reconciling work and family life is one of the biggest concerns of Spanish parents. Having time and, above all, spending quality time with children is increasingly important because of the benefits it has on strengthening family ties. However, the study Nursery and Family 2015 developed by the company Edenred, has revealed that 71.1% of parents have stated that they do not spend enough time at home to be with their children, so they do not consider stopping taking them to the nursery school.

This is one of the main conclusions of this study, which also indicates that the problem of family reconciliation has increased considerably compared to last year, when the percentage of parents concerned about the short time they could spend with their families was 60%, 11% less than at present.

Stop working to take care of children

To combine work and family is increasingly difficult, but what would happen if we could choose? Given this approach, 68% of Spaniards say that, if they could, they would stop working to dedicate themselves personally to the care of their children and, For the first time, this percentage is higher in the case of parents with 69 percent, that of mothers, who answered affirmatively in 66 percent of the cases.

And what do we do with the children during our work hours? The results of the study by Edenred reveal that the main reason why Spanish dads and mothers are forced to take their children to daycare is "because they work outside the home," as 64.3% of the children have said. surveyed. In fact, only 5% of parents surveyed can give up taking their children to daycare because "they can take care of themselves at home".

Children's school and family, resources to conciliate

The work schedule marks the time that children must spend in day care or in nursery school. 53.7% of respondents say they are forced to leave their children in children's centers between five and eight hours a day. But also, it is understood the concern of Spanish parents for the limited time they can devote to their families because 34.8% of children do not go home with their father or mother, but usually picks them from the nursery school other family.

The short duration of maternity leave is another problem that prevents families from reconciling family and work as they would like. The study highlights that almost half of the children, that is, 49.4 percent, go to the nursery for the first time before reaching 10 months.

Aid for family and work-life balance

51.6% of the parents who participated in the survey spend an average of € 350 / month in their children's daycare centers, while only 5% of families spend less than € 150 per month. Despite these figures, today, 56.6% of Spanish workers do not receive official aid to take their children to children's centers. A striking fact considering that half of respondents said they would have more children if they receive them.

Among the social aid received by employees in Spain, Ticket Guardería stands out as one of the six most offered benefits by companies, since it represents both a savings for them and for workers due to their exemption in the IRPF (no amount limit). ).
