68% are better drivers when they go with children
Are you a responsible father or mother at the wheel? Paternity raises our sense of responsibility and even makes us more prudent on many occasions and also when we get in a car with our children. Thus we are more aware of the danger and the lives we carry with us, as corroborated by a study prepared by the company Direct Seguros, which has revealed that 68 percent of Spaniards admit to being a better driver when traveling with minors.
This study prepared by Direct Seguros has been made based on a survey of 250 people on their driving habits when traveling with children.
The most cautious at the wheel by sex
Parents, in general, have turned out to be more responsible drivers when traveling with children. Thus, for example, although in general 52 percent of respondents say that they drive more slowly when they travel with children in the car, men are the ones who most mock their habits. Thus, 58 percent of men say that they become more cautious when driving with their children, while only 38 percent of women admit to being more cautious than usual when traveling with children.
By sex, when asked if taking children in the car is safer, parents consider in 34 percent of cases that driving with their children is safer because they increase caution while for mothers the percentage drops to 22 percent.
Do not obsess, 40 percent recognizes that traveling with children is safer than doing it with adults but one in three points out that it can also be more dangerous due to the stress and misleading that children can generate.
At-the-wheel attitudes when traveling with children
Most drivers say they change their habits when their children drive their cars. 54 percent of respondents say they reduce overtaking maneuvers, 56 percent of participants recognize that they pay more attention to the road when traveling with their children and 54 percent say they do not skip red or amber traffic lights .
Another habit that can lead to mishaps that cause accidents at the wheel is the use of electronic devices and gadgets in the car. However, responsible parents recognize that this is one of the things they most modify when they go with their children in the car. Thus, 52 percent say they use less mobile devices, GPS or radio.
Family vehicles, the choice of parents
63 percent of respondents say they have changed or changed their car after having a child. In fact, 27 percent opt for a larger model and 21 percent for vehicles that incorporate specific features for families, such as the ISOFIX system. Therefore, in addition to the way of driving, the type of vehicle is also very important when it comes to having a more responsible and comfortable driving when we travel or travel in the car with the children.
