The 39th edition of the Children and Youth Book Fair begins

Start the 39th edition of the Children and Youth Book Fair in Madrid, which is about to reach four decades. From December 14 to January 3 this Hall, located in the Conde Duque Center, will host the realization of dozens of free activities around the book and reading for the whole family. Parents and children can choose between more than 2,000 books for readers from 0 to 100 years.

Books for children with and without disabilities

The General Council of the Book has wanted to dedicate 39th edition of the Children and Youth Book Fair to disability. The idea has been to take advantage of the book and its reading as an activity for inclusion, participation, equality and solidarity. This Salon, in addition, will promote contact and exchange between children with and without disabilities, make these realities visible and encourage authors and editors to give a positive image about it, so that cultural agents take into account accessibility when programming their activities . In short, this Hall makes it possible for reading to become an instrument for the educational and social normalization of girls and boys with disabilities.


Numerous free activities will be accommodated in this room. Attendees can enjoy storytelling, presentations, music, theater, workshops, meetings ... from December 14 to January 3. The Centro Conde Duque will be open to reading enthusiasts from 0 to 100 years from Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm and Sundays from 10 am to 2:30 pm.

The library has more than 2,000 books, among which are all the editorial novelties of 2015, which have been selected by the Library Network of the Community of Madrid in its XXXI Sample of the Children and Youth Book.

In the thematic exhibition organized by APIM, which of course also revolves around how literature includes us all and allows us to overcome barriers, this year will be exhibited works by Carmen García Iglesias, Ángel de Pedro, Iban Barrenetxea ... and the Illustration chosen to represent the Children and Youth Book Fair this year, by Eduardo Amatriain.

As every year, we have an exhibition devoted to national awards for children's literature and illustration that this year are Ledicia Costas with his book Escarlatina, a cociñeira defunta and Elena Odriozola. Plus:

- On December 17th will be dedicated to science books that also encourage reading.
- On December 21 will be the award of the Jordi Sierra i Fabra Award
- On December 26 It will be the solidary day. Thanks to the campaign carried out with the Red Cross The letters run through your veinsFor the third consecutive year, blood may be donated on a bus that will remain all day in the courtyard of the Conde Duque.
- On January 2 will be held for the fifth year Grandparents also count that will welcome the grandparents in the company of their grandchildren come to the Hall to share their story.
- On January 3 The Children's and Young People's Book Fair will be closed with the presentation of the Lazarillo Prize and the presentation of the 40th edition of the Children's and Young People's Book Fair that will take place in 2016.
