The university comes out increasingly expensive

Climbing the university elevator in search of a better future is increasingly expensive. The price increases in the degrees of the university degrees are very significant, but not as much as the rise experienced by the enrollments of the master's degrees, which in some autonomous communities, have suffered spectacular rate increases, even for the master's degrees. that are necessary to practice a certain profession.

In addition, the gap between what it costs to study a career in some autonomous communities with respect to others is getting bigger and has exploded in recent years.

The increase of the enrollments in the university

While in Asturias and Galicia university fees have been frozen for those who enroll for the first time, in Madrid, Catalonia or Castilla León the increases are around 350 or 400 euros per course.

This distancing in the prices between universities of the different autonomies has been taking place during 25 years, since the autonomies chose each year their rise of prices within the fork that the Government marked them. The difference comes to almost 216 percent if we compare the maximum price that costs the enrollment in Medicine in Catalonia that goes for 2,371 euros with the 750 euros paid by a student in Andalusia.

In this same line, there are the general masters that have multiplied their price by two in a year, as is the case of Madrid, Valencia or Catalonia.

Where it costs more expensive and cheaper to study a career

The Canary Islands, is no longer the cheapest university in Spain and has registered an increase of 41 percent, the Community of Calencia has raised the price of their tuition by 33 percent, Catalonia has increased its prices by 25 percent and Castilla-La Mancha by 20 percent.

On the other side of the coin, are the autonomous communities that have frozen their prices of first registration and which are Asturias and Galicia, and those that have only raised the CPI, applying increases ranging between 1.8 and 4 per hundred, such as Aragón, Navarra, Andalucía, La Rioja, Basque Country, Cantabria and Extremadura. Among all, Andalusia is the only community that maintains a single price for all university degrees, which is 750 euros. Murcia and the Balearic Islands are at an intermediate point with increases between 6 and 11 percent.

The second, third and successive enrollments are also penalized with a higher price. In Madrid, Navarre and the Canary Islands, the price of the second registration costs twice as much as the first, in terms of the third and fourth enrollments the increase between 259 and 362 percent in the Canary Islands is striking, although in general this increase is due around 30 percent.

The master's qualifications for the exercise of a profession as a teacher or psychologist have also experienced important increases. For example, the master who needed a secondary teacher to practice his profession has become more expensive in Madrid by 35 percent and 64.5 percent in Catalonia. The gap between the most expensive (Catalonia) and the cheapest (Basque Country) is 173 percent difference.
