Pains caused by new technologies

The current lifestyle, associated with the use of new technologies, has increased the number of aches and pains associated with the use of the smartphone, the computer keyboard, the use of the remote control ... Some of them are muscle tension, dizziness , pain and even blurred vision.

These conditions, which cause discomfort, are a direct consequence of the current work style and respond to the number of hours that are in the office, to bad lighting, to incorrect postures that we adopt when we use the telephone or the computer and also to the excessive use of certain devices and mobile applications.

Solutions for the main evils derived from the use of new technologies

These are the most common problems and possible solutions or precautions that can be taken to avoid them.

Trigger finger due to excessive use of the smartphone

Certos studios ensure that we look at the mobile phone more than 150 times a day, forcing us to perform a series of continuous movements by hand when consulting mobile phones, tablets or even consoles. These habits produce what specialists call the trigger finger, a stubbing of the thumbs. Clicking them prevents discomfort, but there are also treatments to relax this area and release possible tensions.

Wrist tendonitis due to the use of the computer keyboard

When the dolls are supported on an office table, tension is usually produced in the tendons of the wrist. This is what happens when working with the keyboard on any type of device. It also occurs when the mobile is used lying on the bed, with the elbows supported. This position causes the hands to "sleep" and contractures in the neck.

The contractures of the sofa

We are all aware of having to sit with a straight back, and although we try it when we are in a chair, we almost never pay attention to the posture when we sit on a sofa. The recumbent posture, which implies having the spine twisted, usually generates contractures, especially in the middle part of the back. Sitting on the couch correctly prevents muscle discomfort, which leads to uncomfortable contractures.

The tensions of bad postures at work

The eight-hour workday sitting at the table in front of a computer leads to incorrect postures when we end up sitting incorrectly. These mals postures often cause neck pain and tensions in the shoulders and neck that, when they become contractures, can induce the appearance of symptoms such as dizziness or blurred vision, especially if we have sensitive cervical.

The best way to avoid it is to adopt a good posture like the one recommended by the ergonomics of the office, which consists of sitting with a straight back, relaxed shoulders, and a straight head. To achieve this last point it is convenient to place the upper edge of the computer monitor at the eye lid. Do not forget that to be well seated in the chair the legs must make a 90º angle.
