Large families will not pay for their passport or ID in 2016

Having children always involves expenses; disbursements that multiply as children are born but for which there are many aids. The Large families They have many discounts to which one will soon be added: they will not have to pay for the issuance of their DNI or passport as of 2016.

In this way, large families (ie, with three or more children) will not have to pay the fees that entail the issuance of these official documents, according to an amendment submitted by the Popular Group to the General State Budget (PGE) for next year 2016.

Family Support Plan

In the block of amendments presented at the congress at the end of August, the popular ones include this measure because they understand that is in line with the already approved Comprehensive Family Support Plan 2015-2017. This will allow them offset the tax burden borne by families and will let them move forward "in the generation of instruments that favor social cohesion", as they explained.

This type of measures are, as the Popular Group defends, nnecessary to compensate for the fall in rents that large families have had to endure during the period of economic crisis that crosses Spain. In fact, according to his letter, the level of income of families and the average expenditure per household has fallen between 2009 and 2013 between 3,300 and 4,600 euros per year.

In Spain there are, according to figures from the Comprehensive Family Support Plan, 562,000 large families, of which the majority (70 percent) are of three children, while only 10 percent have five or more children.

Large families

The Spanish Federation of Large Families (FEFN) has celebrated the amendment presented by the Popular Group, since it is a request that the Federation had already sent to the Government on several occasions. Specifically, this demand had been included in the document '100 measures to improve the protection of the family in Spain', that the FEFN elaborated in 2013 detailing a hundred of necessary questions for these families in all areas.

It is not the first time that this federation has been obliged to make petitions to the governments so that take into account the Large Families. In June, together with associations of large families from 19 other European countries, they demanded the European Union the VAT reduction in diapers, that currently in Spain is at 21 percent.

"It's incredible that Diapers may be taxed with more than double VAT than certain exclusive or luxury items, such as restaurants or trips", commented at the time the president of the Federation, Eva Holgado, who explained that this kind of expenses (travel and restaurants) are" something punctual that is done as an extraordinary expense "and that, although everyone likes it They are something "absolutely dispensable. "

In this regard, the organization argued that the initiative sought that diapers "have a fair tax treatment." And, although the final price of this product depends on the age of the baby and the diaper brand, the FEFN remembers that the cost of a family in this product is of average about 50 euros a month for a child, amount that is constant during the first two years of life of the child. A disbursement that, as insisted by the association, in the case of large families doubles or triples, also prolonging much more in time.

Grants for Large Families

Fortunately, there are many The benefits of being a Numerous Family. Beyond living in a larger family nucleus, governments take into account that expenses are greater and, therefore, various benefits are projected. In this sense, social security aid to large familiess of the Balearic Islands have increased in the first half of this year 31.25 percent, which makes these islands in the autonomous community where they have grown more aid, according to the Institute of Family Policy of the Balearic Islands (IPFB).

Specifically, last August this entity explained that in the first half of this 2015 there had been a total of 294 benefits to these families, compared to 224 the previous year. In this line, and with the aim of improving, the archipelago government was asked to increase the benefit for a dependent child or minor and an extension of the annual income limit for large families in order to be able to extend aid to more households.
