How to register newborns in the Family Book since October 2015
If your baby is going to be born as of October 15, 2015, this information interests you: the procedure for register newborn babies in the Civil Registry will experience certain important changes that should be known, since from this day it will be the hospital staff that registers the babies in the Civil Registry.
According to the new law, health personnel will be responsible for the registration of newborns, something that will be done sending the data electronically, so that It will no longer be necessary for parents to move in the days after childbirth to the Civil Registry to register your children in the Family Book and the rest of the baby's paperwork.
Changes in the Civil Registry to register newborns
As explained in the new amendment of the PP to the law, the address of health centers where birth occurs will have 72 hours to communicate the new births to the Civil Registry that corresponds after the birth, being the responsibility of the health personnel to identify the newborn and to verify their maternal filiation.
Likewise, this staff will take the baby's footprints and the mother's fingerprints, then the realization of these tests will have to be recorded in the registration of the new baby, whose documentation will be signed by the parents and will include the name of the child and their nationality, as well as the signature of the attending physician.
Initially, the doctors will sign by hand all the documentation, although the objective is that they do it by means of the electronic signature. For this reason, until the medical staff does not have the electronic certificate, it is likely that other "technological procedures" will be established.
