Postpartum girdle, yes or no? Advantages and disadvantages

After having a child, the woman's body undergoes a multitude of changes, among which is the appearance of sagging in the belly of the new mom. To combat it, many women think about Postpartum girdles, that would be equivalent to the "corset" of our times. But is it good or bad? Help or not? We give you the pros and cons of the postpartum belt for you to decide whether to use it or not.

The Postpartum girdles, like any girdle, refine the silhouette of the woman, which makes having the feeling that they have less belly while wearing it. But it is not a magical product: the belly remains the same and is only a "visual effect". This explains why the postpartum belt should not be abused, because the "new belly" that we see when we wear it is not real.

Benefits and contraindications of the postpartum belt

One of the benefits of this class of products is that, according to its advocates, help the abdominal area to relocate more quickly since it applies force in the area that has weakened after delivery. It also causes the internal organs and skin to be repositioned more quickly and gives security to women to make some movements. Of course, it also makes a prettier figure.

However, it has cons: it is a product that constricts the woman and it can overwhelm. In addition, detractors of postpartum strips assure that does not help the abdominal muscles regain tone, because this only occurs through physical activities.

For all this, it really should be the doctor or midwife which advises whether it is good to wear the postpartum belt or not and how to use it according to the type of belt that it is. For example, a case in which the girdle is very good is when the woman is overweight and back pain, because it can avoid back pain, but still should be used as a temporary product and never forever.

All this is related to the general recommendation that all mothers end up giving: wear the girdle, but do not abuse it. The reason is simple: the belt can help, but if you use a lot muscles of the abdomen and back do not exercise while the mother moves, which ends up having a contradictory effect: the waist takes longer to move as before because it has stopped "practicing" and can become atrophied.

Reduce the belly after childbirth

If you plan to use the belt to reduce the belly and the figure after childbirth, it will be much better to exercise with exercises that tone the abdominal muscles once about 40 days have passed after the birth.

An example of exercise to reduce the size of the belly is to lie on your back, bend your legs and put your feet on the floor. Once with this posture, raise the bust and bring the left elbow to the right knee, and vice versa.

For physical exercise, again, moderation: do not exaggerate and see little by little, according to what you feel your body endures and the sport you're used to. You can do exercises at home or put yourself in the hands of an expert in this 'gymnastics' class after the birth. Always noting that the important thing is to be healthy and not just lose belly.
