The new Mercedes Vito 4x4, lighter and more efficient
The new Vito 4x4 of Mercedes Benz is the first vehicle of its category available at choice with rear-wheel drive, with front-wheel drive and now also with all-wheel drive. The allocation of the tractions is clear: the front-wheel drive system is especially light, has advantages of grip to the floor with the vehicle empty or with little load.
The tried and tested rear-wheel drive is the ideal solution for all applications with greater weight, a high towed mass and particularly high driving dynamics.
The integral traction is recommended if you want to ensure a good grip on the floor under difficult circumstances of driving or off road compacted. Due to the new integrated structure of the all-wheel drive, the height of the new Mercedes Benz Vito 4x4 is almost identical to that of the models with front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive.
The new Vito 4x4 is now more versatile and attractive
The construction sector and related industries, energy supply companies and hotels in ski resorts, among other companies, frequently require full-wheel drive vehicles to be able to face demanding tasks. The permanent all-wheel drive of the Vito 4x4 is one of the most powerful total propulsion systems on the market and has advanced regulation systems. It is very effective when one or several wheels lose their grip on the road, the 4ETS brakes them and directs the driving force to the wheels with enough grip.
Lighter and more compact, the plus of the new Vito
The compact, light and very efficient design with motor in longitudinal position and assembly in block of the change and the transfer case brings clear advantages in terms of payload and fuel consumption. An example is the compact construction of the transfer case and the transmission side gear to the front axle. The rear axle joint of the cardan shaft of the front axle is integrated into the output gear of the transfer case, which clearly reduces the demand for space on the sides of the gearbox. As a result of all these measures, the overweight of the Vito 4x4 amounts to only 50 kg.
The Vito 4x4 does not require longitudinal or transverse differential locks as in conventional systems. This saves weight and increases both driving safety and comfort.
The new Vito 4x4 is usually equipped with the most powerful engine, the OM 651 with 2.15 liter displacement and 140 kW (190 hp) of power, as well as 440 Nm of torque. For automatic transmission, the automatic transmission is installed with a 7G-TRONIC PLUS torque converter. The integral traction transfer case is integrated in the change.
The standard equipment of the Vito 4x4 also includes 17-inch wheels with larger brakes on the front axle. Unlike the predecessor model, the height of the Vito 4x4 remains in all executions below the important mark of two meters.
