Theater and teenagers, their benefits

Theater can be very important in the development of children, but what about its benefits in adolescents? All the experts agree that the theater is very good for teenagers, especially for being in that "complicated age" in which they do not even know what they want, because theater helps them communicate in a very profound as well as artistic way.

The theater is a fundamental element to express ourselves and socialize, and even more so for adolescents, because it helps them to have a deeper knowledge of themselves, their expectations, thoughts and actions. So, in addition the theater can become a great educational tool and development of their self-esteem.

Do not lose sight of the importance of the age we are talking about: adolescence, that era in which our son "goes to his own" and is very insecure about everything that comes his way. Not in vain, is becoming adult, and the changes (both physical and psychological) are huge, which makes sometimes even the relationship between adults and adolescents is complicated.

For all this, the theater is the perfect tool for teenagers: it is a very complete option to take away the mind of our child from the stress of studies, friends and family. Your child will focus on himself and the development of new habilities that you can know through the theater and thanks to the people with whom you share that time.

And it is that the theater requires a special concentration, because while practicing it is deepening in the body expression, different voice techniques (Public speaking will no longer be a problem for your child), the improvisation, the analysis of the texts to understand them in their entirety, the staging and the care of details and, of course, the development of the imagination.

The benefits of theater in adolescents

- Overcoming shyness
- Knowledge and personal acceptance
- Knowledge of other people and improvement of social relationships
- Strengthens your self-esteem
- Fun
- Expression and corporal and verbal communication
- Goodbye to fears
- Development of creativity and imagination
- Adaptation to different circumstances
- Development of psychomotor skills thanks to body expression exercises

The theater, for those who have tried it with enough age to "feel" it in its entirety, it becomes essential in their lives: it contributesa kind of magic, of joy. The feeling of "getting into another person's body" is difficult to express and ends up uniting the one who feels it to that character and the people who were at his side while representing him. And all that, without needing to seek to be the next Goya Award for the best interpretation; the best is that your son enjoys the theater and take full advantage of it without trying to be a star.

In summary, adolescence is an age marked by doubts, by "discussions" and a lot of "nobody understands me", and the theater helps channel all that energy into art and self-knowledge. Communication, which is so valuable and necessary in our society, is what works the most in the theater, but not only the verbal, but also the gestural, the corporal ... theater will help your child to know himself better inside and out, and to develop great potential which, perhaps, was hidden.
