Ford Mondeo: premium jump

Mondeo reaches its fourth generation and, after selling more than four and a half million units, it becomes a representation saloon, for quality and technical innovations.

Ford has chosen the roads of Malaga to make the international presentation of the fourth generation of the Mondeo. In addition to this role in the launch, it should be noted that the three versions of the Mondeo four doors (Mondeo Sedan), five doors (Mondeo Sedan) and five family doors (Mondeo Sportbreak) will be manufactured for everyone in the Valencian plant of Almussafes.

After its official presentation, we had the opportunity to test the car more closely and we have verified what we saw in Malaga. First, that the forceful design del Mondeo draws attention in the street. Come on, you see that you like, especially your prominent frontal reminiscent of the Aston Martin classics, as well as its sideline, with a coupe ending, which gives it a very sporty image. The bodies have grown 9 centimeters in the saloons and 3 in the family. As is usual in all brands, Ford has sought an aesthetic signature in its frontal view with a Led lights open design, which make a good aesthetic definition. No less forceful the rear, topped by some attractive headlights They start from the inside of the trunk to the outside.

If, as we say, the packaging seen on the outside transmits a category, when going inside, the same or maybe more is repeated, first by the elegant interior environment and then by the rolling silence and the superb driving position thanks to the optional "electric seats that hold the body very well." This good perception is due to the adjustments and new materials and, in the aesthetic part, to a correct combination of colors in the trim, front and upholstery.

Another appreciable and practical change is the reduction of buttons on the dashboard, since most of the actions are carried out through the touch screen, located in the center and many can also be executed with the voice through the system Sync, that this model has been in its second generation.

Mechanics of new Ford Mondeo

Since its launch, the new Mondeo has three gasoline engines, the well-known EcoBoost of a liter of displacement, but capable of offering 125 HP, a new EcoBoost of 1.5 liters and 160 horses and a 2.0 of 240 HP for the RS version. In diesel the mechanics will be all of 2.0 liters TDCi with turbo of variable geometry and powers of 150 or 180 horses.

But the great novelty is the hybrid version, which is only going to be sold with the 4-door model. This mechanic offers two engines: one of Atkinson cycle gasoline and 150 HP and another electric that generates 120 HP and when they work together they add up to 187 HP. In addition, it offers the possibility of circulating up to 135 kilometers per hour only in electric. The consumption of this version in the combined cycle is only 4.2 liters per 100 km. For later, a plug-in hybrid mechanics will be installed.

Complete equipment of the Ford Mondeo

This Ford Mondeo has a very complete equipment from the basic Trend with dual-zone climate control, radio with Sync, cruise control, automatic control of long / short lights and tire pressure sensor among many others. The other higher option, the Titanium, also, add radio with Sync2 and an 8-inch touch screen, heated and electric seats for the driver, a lane maintenance system, recognition of traffic signals and front and rear parking sensors.
