Dark circles, how to remove them and prevent their appearance

The dark circles is one of the aesthetic problems that can bother you the most, due to its great visibility. Normally, we attribute the origin of dark circles to the lack of sleep and the rhythm of life that we lead, and although this does not help to improve them, it is not the direct cause of their appearance. Its origin is due to other factors, such as genetics, the loss of skin elasticity that is accentuated with the passage of time and even factors related to nutrition, present in our lifestyle habits.

Treatments to eliminate dark circles

Nowadays, thanks to the studies carried out by specialists in the world of dermoesthetics, techniques and treatments have been achieved that, together with healthy lifestyles, can greatly minimize their appearance and color.


- Dark circles due to loss of elasticity of the skin, due to flaccidity. These dark circles usually appear as it passes in time due to the aging of the skin. They are frequent in elderly people and are related to the appearance of wrinkles. They can be treated with mesotherapy, hyaluronic acid for hydration, silicon and amino acids, as well as with radiofrequency, peeling or laser.

- Sunken circles. This type of dark circles is due to the appearance of grooves in the area and displacement of fat bags that can be treated with infiltrations with hyaluronic acid, thus eliminating the appearance of tiredness.

- Coloring dark circles. The best treatment for this type of dark circles is the prevention of
the same through sun protection, but can be treated with peeling and depigmenting creams.


- Dark circles due to circulatory problems. This type of dark circles are purple or bluish. These dark circles are more evident with the passage of time, as the years go by, the skin becomes thinner and more transparent. They can be improved with vitamin K creams and drainages.

- Transient dark circles. As the name suggests, they are dark circles that appear in a timely manner due to lack of sleep or some specific pathology. These circles undergo themselves, although at a given moment they can improve with massages, drainages and cold compresses.

How to prevent the appearance of dark circles

Once the ojera has been treated, it is very important to adopt a series of precautions to prevent them from reappearing:

- Hydration. It is essential to drink between 1.5 and 2 liters of water a day to hydrate well the skin and the rest of the body.


- Solar protection. Ultraviolet rays are increasingly harmful. It is important to protect the skin from these rays, all year round, even on cloudy days. The ojera when receiving these rays that alter the melanin of the skin, can get darker and more obvious.

- Restful rest. It is also important to get an 8-hour day sleep.
