The harvest with children and family
September is the month of the harvest and there are many wineries that open their doors and allow visiting families to participate in this enriching experience. Families, accompanied by expert guides, can visit and tour fields full of vineyards and enter the cellars to learn about the entire process that follows the grape harvest.
The harvest with children and family allows to know in situ how the clusters are selected, the destemming, the treading, the elaboration of the must, (that the children can taste), and the obtaining of the different aged wines of the area in barrels. These are some of the different steps that children can follow to see the whole process of making the grape juice as true grape growers.
Everyone to harvest!
One of these emblematic places to enjoy all aspects of the harvest is a small ecological wine cellar in Lacar (Navarra). The experience begins in the winery itself where children can get into a horse cart, which will take them on an excursion to the vineyards. Once there, it is explained to children and adults in which the grape harvest consists and begins with the work of selecting the grapes.
After the collection, the whole family can enjoy a well-deserved rest, taste a country lunch with typical products of the area, such as lamb ribs, chorizo, loin ... grilled, wine and must for children!
But the work does not end there, it is the destemming and pressing of the grape, in which the children of the house can also participate actively.
An unforgettable experience to enjoy a beautiful family picnic, in which children will learn more about the world of wine and values such as effort, sacrifice and love for a job well done.
