Approve selectivity and get note

After the second year of Bachillerato, a total of almost 280,000 students access the Evaluation for Access to the EvAU University, better known as Selectividad. Most of the students are presented to the June call, where the highest number of approved.

According to data from the year 2013 that the Ministry of Education has made public, out of a total of 270,435 students who showed up in June, they obtained the apt 234,305, which shows that the Selectividad barrier is successfully overcome in more than 90 percent of the cases.

However, these data contrast with the rate of school failure recorded in the pre-university and career phases, since only 60 percent of the students enrolled in the first year of Secondary Education get to enroll in a University and less than 60 percent of those in the Baccalaureate get to apply to Selectividad.

Private schools pass with a note

According to the data published in the School Portal of the Community of Madrid, it is striking that the 71.9% of private schools and the 63.9% of private contracted of the Community of Madrid will be above the regional average, while only the 30.7% of public institutes He managed to overcome that average. Of the 70 municipalities of the Community of Madrid, the students of the West were the ones who got better grades.

The novelty is that for the first time the academic data have been able to be related to the GDP per capita of each municipality, whose information is available in the Regional Statistics Portal. From this intersection, it can be seen that the lowest scores of the Community are found in three towns in the south of Madrid, where a greater number of towns are concentrated with an income below the regional average. It is Las Rozas de Puerto Real, Villa del Prado and Sevilla La Nueva. On the contrary, the highest notes belong to the four 'rich' municipalities of Madrid (Alcobendas, Tres Cantos, Humanes and Pozuelo de Alarcón), the only ones with GDP above 60,000 euros, where in no case is it lower than 6 , 9 as a middle note.

How is the Selectivity grade calculated?

The final grade of the Selectividad is established on the 14 points, which is obtained from the weighted average between 60 percent of the average grade of Baccalaureate and 40 percent of the grade of the general phase, provided that in this last phase a minimum grade of 4 has been obtained. The weighted average is the result of multiplying the Bachiller grade by 0.6 and adding it to the grade of the general phase multiplied by 0.4. The University Access Test is passed when a grade equal to or greater than 5 is obtained.

To try to reach 14 points, most students perform a specific or voluntary phase that allows to improve the score. To the base note, you can add up to four more points, two per exam. In this phase you can perform up to 3 exams and compute the two best notes of the 3, as long as it is approved.

Regarding the expiration of the overcoming of the general phase is indefinite, however, the specific phase is valid for 2 years for access to the University. AND
