13 health disorders that affect women most

In some ailments, the origin of health disorders is in the female hormones themselves (estrogen and progesterone), although genetics and current lifestyle habits also influence. Chiron hospitals have carried out an analysis of the different health disorders that affect women more than men.

1. Breast cancer It is the tumor that most often manifests in women, but it is also true that its detection in the early stages, thanks to early diagnosis, allows reaching a five-year survival rate of almost 90 percent.
Among the risk factors for breast cancer are age, family history and having suffered before. Reproductive history, early menarche, delayed first pregnancy, absence of childbirth or late menopause are also of great importance.
Likewise, there are two external factors of easy prevention and involved in their own genesis: excessive consumption of alcohol and obesity in postmenopausal women. In contrast, early pregnancy, physical exercise and breastfeeding would be reasons that would reduce the dangers of suffering it.


2. Diabetes The higher life expectancy of women and levels of obesity generally higher than those of men make the prevalence of diabetes, which affects 14 percent of the general population, as well as its complications - diabetic retinopathy, failure kidney, difficulty of digestion, problems with urination or constipation - affect them more.

3. Migraine. Hormonal factors influence that migraine is more frequent in females, with a ratio of three to one and with higher incidence between 40-50 years.

4. Bone diseases. Although the reason is not clear, there are several complaints of the locomotor system - rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis and fibromyalgia - which also affect women more than men. In addition to hormones and genetics, the current lifestyle has increased the number of cases of spinal pathologies, to the point that they suffer between 80 and 85 percent of the population throughout life and they have become one of the biggest causes of sick leave. The use of heeled shoes and tighter clothing makes women more prone to these ailments. Also the use of a footwear with narrow form and generous heel contributes to the development of any of the pathologies present in the feet of women: hallux valgus or bunions, metatarsalgia or pain of the plant and Morton's neuroma or inflammation of one of the nerves .


5. Woman and tobacco. A binomial that emphasizes that, to the already known cardiovascular and pulmonary damages, the problems in fertility, pregnancy and lactation, the harmful effects on the blood circulation in the case of oral contraceptive consumption, in addition to the link with some specific cancers of women, which can be aggravated.

6. Varicose veins. They occur in 10 percent of the population, with an incidence four times higher in women, that is, it affects one in five Spanish women. The appearance of varicose veins is directly related to a hereditary factor, with a series of avoidable circumstances, such as obesity, contraceptives, sedentary lifestyle, prolonged exposure to heat, and professions that require a long time standing or sitting.
The prevention of varicose veins is mainly oriented against avoidable factors, so strict control of overweight, postural measures (limb elevation), daily physical exercise to activate venous pumping and, especially, elastic compression stockings is recommended. .


7. Contact dermatitis. Especially associated with nickel, and often associated with cosmetics, dyes and perfumes.

8. Emotional disorders. Despite the fact that during childhood children outnumber girls in consultations for emotional disorders, from puberty, they go ahead. Likewise, they suffer, more frequently than men, anxiety disorders, such as panic attacks, phobias and alterations in eating behavior. Insomnia is also more common in women, sometimes forming part of these pathologies or precipitated by the hormonal changes of menopause.

9. Addictions. Women, both for cultural and biological issues, tend to develop addictions somewhat different from those of men. While these tend more to the game and to the alcohol, they "hook" to other people, to the purchases or, even, to the beauty.

10. Hemorrhoids. Pregnancy is among the most frequent causes of hemorrhoids, which produce symptoms such as hemorrhage, prolapse, pruritus or itching, soiling and pain.The most effective way to prevent them is to achieve a normal and regular bowel habit, for which it is advisable to make a diet rich in fiber and drink lots of daily fluids.

11. Anemia. It is another of the ailments and has many different causes, however, the most important is bleeding, which can occur in two different ways: in significant blood losses or in bouts of low intensity, but repeated or continuous. The woman, due to menstrual losses or to excessive bleeding during childbirth, is more prone to suffer it. Its symptoms vary according to its intensity.

12. Celiac disease. A permanent intolerance to wheat, barley and rye gluten in genetically predisposed individuals is present in Spain in one percent of the population, but is twice as frequent in women. Its only effective treatment is a diet free of gluten throughout life.

13. Cellulite The popular skin of orange is an alteration that affects mainly women and that is located in the thighs, the hips and the abdomen. In it are involved the female hormones.
