School failure

Spain is at the head of Europe with more young people leaving their studies after the first cycle of secondary education in 2013, being twice the average European rate. However, this is still our best historical data, having improved compared to the previous year. What happens is that, at the same time, other countries have done their homework better.

23.5 percent of young Spaniards had dropped out of school compared to 11 percent on average in the European Union, according to the data collected from 2013 in the Eurostat statistics office. Of the students who do not continue their studies, 27 percent are men and 19.9 percent are women.

The experts link the drop in school failure in our country to the crisis, because the lack of job opportunities for young people means that those who remain in the classroom, because they can not find work. Therefore, the experts predict that, when the economic situation improves, the abandonment will return, because the appropriate measures are not taken to tackle them. Further, Once the young person has passed the age of 19, if there has been a disengagement in education, this will be irreversible.
