When to stop using diapers

Parents should be patient to wait for the right time for their child to stop using diapers, as this is a crucial step as part of the child's independence process. Do not push them or insist too much as often happens in day care centers and schools.

According to the rhythm of maturation, we know that girls leave diapers more easily, thanks to the fact that their bladder develops earlier. However, it is not known what the specific age is. We can say that a child is able to control their needs between 18 and 30 months.

Recall that a child under 2 years still does not reach the ideal maturity to perform actions autonomously, such as holding urine, ordering it, going to the bathroom, cleaning, dressing, etc. If we know how to wait for the ideal moment, the transition will be shorter and learning will be faster. If the child is prepared, it usually lasts between 2 weeks and a month, otherwise it can be extended even in more years.
