Photos on social networks: untagging the past, a new family conflict
There are already cases of children who find themselves with a digital identity created by parents who have been publishing their photos since they were little and do not like this. And it is that currently, children and young people exposed in photos on social networks by their parents, sometimes they have to face comments from their friends and other circles, and there are more and more teenagers and young people who would be delighted if they could de-label the past and get rid of the photos with your presence on the Internet
There are more and more requests from young people asking their parents to remove their photos from social networks. The phenomenon of oversharing affects 4 out of 5 children and every time it goes more. In fact, among the most recurrent themes in family therapy, there are reproaches for the overexposure in social networks of images that young people understand as abuse of their privacy.
The avalanche of photos on social networks is a source of family conflict
The avalanche of photos and videos that parents make of their children and that, without the slightest restraint or the slightest zeal for the privacy of the little ones, they publish happily on social networks, they are already a new family conflict
This exhibition, in some occasions, has caused problems to young people in their circles of friends. Among the main criticisms are problems in the friendship relations of young people who are forced to give explanations about moments that parents present in photos on their social networks that relate and reflect facts, actions or even plans that young people understand they do not have why tell or give explanations to your friends.
Generally, parents do not know or do not just assess the magnitude of what happens with these images on social networks. And with these shared photos on social networks they are generating the digital identity of minors, so within the reach of any Internet user and so exhaustive and detailed, a circumstance that is exclusive and characteristic of the new generations and to which they were not subjected to such intense public exposure, the parents themselves who now they stimulate it.
The graphic diffusion of children playing, sleeping, eating, crying, taking their first steps, smiling and, in short, endless scenes of daily life with which the parents intend to share experiences related to the education of their children, their difficulties and his satisfactions are generating a new family conflict.
However, many times these confident parents are not aware of the oversaturation of data that they provide about the family, cramming even the most reliable receivers and publishing risky details or, at the very least, undue for the privacy and security of the little ones. .
Unlabeled the past of photos on social networks
In early adolescence, around the age of 12, is when most children start in social networks. This stage coincides with the formation of adolescents' own identity and their behavior is completely linked to their acceptance of their surroundings, which is why this online footprint created by parents often embarrasses and annoys or angers their children.
Thus, many children find a digital identity created by their parents based on photos since they were small in social networks. Photos that are often labeled, and with name and surname, it is no longer easy to erase. This has created his personal fingerprint that often does not like children.
In addition, it is advisable to evaluate the risks involved for the safety of both the minor and the family, the publication of data that lead to locating and knowing the modus vivendi of the protagonists of the edited document.
