Almost 50% of large families live with less than 2,500 euros per month

The family economy is one of the aspects that are always taken into account before deciding whether to extend the members to the home. Being a father is a wonderful experience, but it also requires a series of expenses to pay to support the children: school, food, clothes, the occasional outlay on leisure trips, etc. Dispenses that increase as the number of children grows.

A situation faced daily by the large families, cores with three or more children and that are often related to a comfortable home without problems. However, from the Spanish Federation of Large Families, FEFN, it is explained that this image is far from reality since in many cases the debts and savings save the end of the month of these parents.


Hard end of month

To know the situation of the large families in Spain, the FEFN and the Madrid Vivo Foundation, They have carried out a study with a total of 3,300 surveys. Questionnaires that asked about the context in which these nuclei lived, through questions about their level of studies and income that they achieved at the end of the month. 48% of the participants confirmed that they had difficulties at the end of the month and that sometimes they had to contract some debt to cover the expenses, or use savings in principle destined to other endings.

In particular, a 27% of the respondents claimed to have to resort to these economic extras. The reality of large families indicates that 48% of them live with less than 2,500 euros per month and 13% barely reach 1,200 euros. Among the largest expenditures are food, housing and education. Therefore, parents recognize the value of the discounts found in items such as clothing and footwear.


On the contrary, large families recognize have a bad time at times when spending at home increases. Here the return to school becomes an undesirable protagonist since 50% of respondents say that it is the cost that is most difficult to face. 25% say that in their case it is vacations that give them the most problems in this area.

The importance of saving

Against this background, saving becomes the best ally of large families. The 61% of the respondents affirms that at the time of purchase, they always value if the establishment has discounts on products of first necessity and only 23% is recognized as faithful to a chain of supermarkets, or to certain items that maintain their price.


In the field of savings, the internet seems to have become an ally of large families. The 81% of respondents recognizes that if you find a cheaper product on the Internet, you acquire it instead of doing it in the traditional way. However, only 43% of participants say that they make regular transactions through the online world and only 19% prefer the traditional system even if it is more expensive than in the network.

The survey also asked large families for the type of aid they prefer to receive from the government. 79% of families are clear that the best thing for their economic situation would be to increase tax deductions. On the other hand, 12% opted for the maintenance of the special category when the children are fulfilling years. Finally, 8% would prefer to grant the special category from the 4 children, in this way less would have this qualification and would benefit from this context.

Also in the political debate is the creation of a social bond for gas, which 65% of families ask to be universal, but with consumption limits equal to the social bond of light; and the consideration of a large family to single parents with two children, a question about which 69% of the respondents are in favor of having a specific regulation, that is, support for these families, but not through the family title numerous
