Longevity and quality of life, the mystery of the blue areas
Did you know that there is five "blue zones" in the world where the rate of longevity Is it higher than the rest? Also, in these five blue areas not only live longer, but live better because longevity and quality of life go together. Here, the ailment rates associated with old age are the lowest on the planet. Why does this happen? What kind of life, food, sport ... or what customs do these people have to live longer and better? It is the mystery of the blue areas of the planet.
A little over a decade ago, the concept of blue zones emerged. It was in 2006, when the explorer and writer Dan Buettner published in the magazine National Geographic Article Secrets of long life (Secrets of a long life), which showed three places in the world where the longevity rate was higher than in the rest and where the rates of health problems associated with old age were among the lowest on the planet: Nuoro (Sardinia), Okinawa (Japan) and Loma Linda (California).
Later, I would add the Nicoya peninsula (Costa Rica) and Icaria (Greece), who shared with the previous areas some factors, such as an active life, a balanced diet, moderate levels of stress, satisfying personal relationships and a reason to get up every morning.
Blue areas, how to replicate them in other places on the planet?
Since then, many initiatives have emerged that have tried to replicate the way of life of the inhabitants of these blue areas in other parts of the world. But, really, is this objective within our reach? Can we get it by living in a big city? On a personal level, this objective depends as much on the effort and personal disposition of each one as on the advances of research and science in the development of substances and products capable of developing healthy synergies in the organism.
Gonzalo Peñaranda, CEO of the Spanish laboratory Aora Health, says that "life in big cities does not offer an environment conducive to a leisurely, stress-free life associated with healthy aging. maintain a balanced diet, strengthen friendships and foster family relationships. But with effort and determination and the help of science we can turn our life into a real blue zone. "
Nutraceuticals to replicate blue areas
A healthy life and the latest advances in food supplements -nutraceutics- allow people to create their own "blue zone", extending their life expectancy and living better every day. The goal is to replicate one of those five blue zones of the world where turning one hundred years old is no exception.
The first step to achieve the binomial longevity and quality of life is moderate the pace of life, maintain a healthy diet, reduce stress and haste, avoid a sedentary lifestyle and improve communication with others.
The second is to incorporate into our day-to-day the taking of natural food supplements that act in the body solving deficiencies and enhancing synergies. The idea is "improve health from within", enhancing well-being and quality of life, achieving a similar effect to living in any of those five blue zones.
