The Billings method, the natural indicator of fertility

The Billings method It is a natural method of recognition of fertility, which in women has some signs and symptoms that we can easily recognize. Thanks to them, a woman can know when is the best time to get pregnant and at what point in her cycle her fertile days occur.

The main advantage of The Billings method is that it is a natural indicator of fertility, since it is based on the observation that the woman makes of the sensations she has in the vulva and the flow that she can see throughout the day in her daily hygiene.

The scientific method of Dr. Billings

Since the Dr. Billings and his wife began, in the decade of the 50s, to verify what the women observed, they surrounded themselves with other doctors and physiologists who studied the changes in the hormonal levels, and verified that they coincided exactly with the observations of the women.

It all started when a priest asked the Dr. John Billings, Australian, who will investigate how to help marriages to live responsible fatherhood because he as a priest appreciated the difficulties of many couples. Without previous knowledge, he was a neurologist, began to investigate and soon joined his wife, Lyn, who provided his own observations. They discovered how to help many couples recognize their fertility through the observation of mucus from the cervix and began to spread it around the world. They have been true apostles of the cause, they traveled to Africa, North America, South America, Europe, Asia, spreading what they had discovered, suitable for any woman at any time of their reproductive life.

What they have found over the years is the intrinsic goodness of the method. His last great task has been the diffusion in China where the method has had a spectacular acceptance, accepted, even, by the Chinese Government. The good reception is probably due to the fact that there is no prejudice in the majority of women who learn it.

Dr. Billings passed away in 2007, a Palm Sunday. Dr. Billings with more than 90 years continues to encourage its dissemination. Dr. Brown has continued to study to this day. With 12,000 menstrual cycles and 750,000 hormonal tests ensures that: what the woman observes is rigorously faithful to what happens in the ovary.

Learning to recognize fertility

The Billings method It allows the woman to know herself better. Having learned to identify the signs of fertility (fertility mucus and lubrication sensation), he knows at what stage of the cycle he is. Thus, you can see if you are experiencing strange things, such as vaginal infections, cycles in which you do not ovulate and even the causes of your nervousness if you are ovulating or the feeling of being depressed if menstruation approaches. Teens who learn increase their self-esteem and self-respect and this has immediate benefits in the boy-girl relationship.

Responsible fatherhood

The husband and wife in the use of their freedom and responsibility, in view of what God asks of them, can use this knowledge to calculate the ideal time for the pregnancy of a new child or to space it. Obviously if what is sought is to space a pregnancy, the days of fertility will not maintain sexual relations.

There are more and more couples that want to have children and that the Billings method to look for a pregnancy. It would be good if they could learn to know each other before any technique. The percentage of pregnancies achieved with learning the method is very high.

Signs of fertility in women

1. Feeling. The vulva is sensitive to tiny amounts of mucus, could feel a drop of water. Throughout the day a woman can be dry, wet, slippery ... each sensation is easily recognizable and has a meaning.

2. Presence of mucus. Every woman when she goes to the bathroom has collected mucus or flow in her underwear or toilet paper. That flow also has a meaning according to the appearance it has. There is no need to do extra cleanings, nor pick up inside the vagina.

3. The appearance of mucus It has different meanings depending on the observation.

The cycle begins with menstruation

In the female cycle, the most important event is ovulation. It is the moment when a new child can be born. In all cycles, the female organism prepares itself for this event.

At the end of menstruation, there are usually a few days when pregnancy is not possible, those days are infertile. The vulva is usually dry, most likely there is no flow, and if there is, it is a pattern that does not evolve.

When the ovulation approaches there are some changes in the organism that allow the life of the sperm inside the body of the woman waiting for the moment of ovulation, this is the period of female fertility, it can last between 5 and 7 days (it is not fixed ).During this period the sensation of wetness or humidity increases until a maximum of slipperiness is reached. The mucus also changes, each time it will be more elastic and transparent.

After ovulation, if there has been no pregnancy, menstruation will come in two weeks. During this time pregnancy is not possible. It is a new period of infertility. The woman will again feel the vulva dry or sticky invariably and if it has flow it will be the same day after day, thick and sticky.

Function and appearance of the flow of the neck of the uterus

The neck or cervix is a small structure that has crypts (like caves) and cells that produce mucus of various types: estrogenic (elastic, transparent) and gestagenic (a white or yellow goop that closes the neck).

The cervix is always filled with mucus because it sterilizes the inside of the female reproductive system. If this mucus were always like a cork stopper there would be no possibility of pregnancy.

Mucus-secreting cells are sensitive to hormonal changes in the ovary. When ovulation approaches, the ovary says: open !, and he begins to load water with mucus that slides down the walls of the vagina going outside. In this way, it allows the passage of sperm and its survival until the moment of ovulation. The woman will feel lubricated.

When ovulation happens, it tells the cervix to close! And the cervix is again filled with thick mucus (gestagenic mucus) impenetrable to the sperm. The woman will feel dry.
