Hygiene: good habits for children and babies
During the first years of life, the small routines that surround our children are assimilated as their own and are becoming, little by little, a custom that they themselves will want to maintain tomorrow. One of them corresponds to the hygiene habits, like showering daily, combing your hair or brushing your teeth three times a day. And is that with regard to hygiene habits, we must instill children that it is not just about doing it every day, but about doing it well.
Good hygiene habits for the first years of life
- Brushing teeth. As soon as they have some autonomy and coordination of movements, we can teach them to brush their teeth ... just like we do, their parents. As soon as the child reaches a year and a half, this imitation game will be more than fun. Once they get used to it and the novelty disappears, it may be difficult for them to do it after each meal, but at least it will have to be done at bedtime.
- Combing The comb ... is another workhorse. To avoid their reluctance to use the comb, take special care with the pulls, for example, as it may be a reason for the children to take the instrument down. An effective trick that helps us to instill this habit can be to give an original comb or a brush of colors. With children who do not like to brush their teeth we can use this same trick, giving them a fun toothbrush and a soft-tasting paste, like strawberry, for example.
- Shower. Regarding body hygiene, we can consider it as small fields in which we are granting degrees of autonomy: hands, face, shower ... Most likely they do not like it, but it can motivate them to see that it is entrusted in them according to their responsibility.
