The protagonist of this story is called Karyn Tripp, and is the mother and teacher of a family with four children. This mom also has her own blog in which she shares with other mothers the tricks, games and methods he uses to educate and teach his children on the most diverse topics, such as the periodic table.
A trick to learn the periodic table
One of his ingenious formulas for his children to learn goes through turn the periodic table into the classic game Sink the Fleet. The success has been such that he even gets his young children, who still they do not study Chemistry, have already become familiar with the names and numbers of the elements.
As explained in his blog this original mother, to play you only need to print four copies of a periodic table. A note: it is recommended to laminate them to be able to reuse them as many times as you want and, in this way, save.
Once we have the printed copies, we label the rows in alphabetical order and the columns with numbers. After this, we put the two copies together in such a way that form an angle of 90 degrees with each other. To stay upright you can use a folder and clips, as we can see in the image.
How to play the periodic table
To play we just have to follow the same rules as sure we already know about Sinking the Fleet: it is about saying coordinates to try to find out where our opponent has his boats. It would be best to use the table below to mark our boats (in rows of between two and five elements) and the table above to find the opponent's.
