More than 90% of parents in Spain believe that the Internet makes people lose intimacy

Internet has been a revolution. A great change that many have caught by surprise and have not known how to understand or manage. Overlook and less privacy

How have our lives changed social networks and new technologies, according to Spanish parents? Answer one of the sections of this Barometer to this question. On the one hand, almost 95% recognizes that they are useful in that they allow us to connect with people who are far away. However, they also recognize that these are accompanied by defects and 93.6% say that they pay more attention than they should to the mobile phone.

Spanish parents also consider that these platforms favor cases of harassment and almost 91% consider that because of them there is a greater risk of bullying for minors.


The parents participating in this study also associate an increase in gambling addiction in young people with new technologies. Something that is related to the presence of websites that allow you to place bets without confirmation of age or in which it is very easy to deceive with false data. Finally, if a 79% of parents agree that social networks have projected a sexualized image of minors.

The attitude towards the internet

And what is the attitude of parents against the Internet? What control do they have over the use that their children make of the network? 91.6% of the surveyed says that implementing content filters at home seems like a good idea. On the other hand, almost 90% would implement online consumption schedules within the home as well as access to social networks.

On the other hand, 88.7% would agree to check the mobile of their children to check the consumption they have made. The 78,3% it would also limit the use of smartphones to the occasions in which this was essential. And what would be the alternative to the use of these technologies? This study has also been interested in the position of parents regarding some activities.


For example, almost 56% of respondents would agree to read more with their children and 48.3% would like to travel with the children. Near to 44% is in favor of introducing sports as a family activity. On the other hand, only 26.6% of participants agree that visiting museums is a good option in this regard.
