The return to school 2016 will cost families more than 200 euros per child
August comes to an end and with him welcome, September. It's up to prepare the back to school: new books, backpacks, pencils, pens, notebooks, uniforms, shoes all those objects that cause more or less illusion in the children of the house have another important consequence in the family: they cost a good eye of the face. Specifically, for this year each family plans to spend 232 euros on average.
According to the special edition of 'The Celetem Observatory' dedicated to the intentions of advancing purchases related to the back to school, the 11 percent of the families surveyed believe that it will spend considerably more than that average, and issue an outlay higher than 1,000 euros.
But not everyone thinks they will be so 'expendable'. Almost one in three respondents (28 percent) expects an expense in the return to school that covers the 120 euros, and a quarter of the questioned (25 percent) estimated that it will spend about 374 euros.
Survey of families
Do your forecasts coincide with these? It must be borne in mind that these are the results of a survey conducted on the Internet based on an online methodology (CAWI); a universe of population older than 18 years-old, of national scope, and with a very small sample size: only 1,000 surveys.
One of the keys that is always given to save on the return to school is the advance purchase. However, according to this survey, the percentage of Spaniards who intend to advance school fees decreases year after year: in July 2016, 22 percent of respondents thought to buy school supplies before September, a percentage that is two points lower than that of two years ago, when it stood at 24 percent.
School supplies, books and clothes
What is the most bought? Any father or mother he knows it well, and so it comes out in the data collected by this observatory: school supplies, books and clothing are the three types of products that involve the most expense for families in the return to school.
Specifically, the three products most mentioned by the respondents are the following: school supplies (75%), books (65%) and clothing, a sector in which the protagonism of sportswear draws attention (60%). It is also significant to note that other school equipment products such as notebooks (57%) and backpacks (49%) occupy a prominent position among these "advanced" purchases.
Contain the expense
Sixty-two percent of respondents expect to contain the portfolio and do not believe that it is spent more, or less, than last year. This percentage has been reduced in 2.4 points percentages if the same survey of 2015 is observed. Those who believe that will spend more that the previous year they are 23 percent, a percentage that has also decreased when compared with 2015, when it reached 25.8 percent of the sample.
There are also those who they trust to spend less money this course than the past, although they are the least: 14.7 percent of the respondents. Of course, this time there is an increase in those who expect it, because in 2015 the percentage was 11 percent.
Each year the end of summer brings with it a multitude of surveys and studies of different methodology on how much each family will spend in return to school. Even so, within each house are its members who know their reality and how to save: having siblings, for example, can be a very useful tip thanks to the 'inherited' materials.
