5 activities for children on World Environment Day 2015
Transmitting the value of nature and the importance of taking care of it is as good as it is necessary: we must learn to take care of the place where we live, if we want future generations to enjoy nature as much or more than we do. Therefore, taking advantage of the fact that this week is celebrated Environment Day, we bring 5 family activities.
World Environment Day, which is held every June 5, is one of the main vehicles that the United Nations uses to promote global awareness about the environment and promote attention and political action in this regard. But not all are great actions: small big gestures also count, and that's why here you have a few perfect ones for this spring day.
Activities for children in the Environment Day
1.-Plant a flower
What better way to appreciate nature than watching her grow up at home? You can go to a store and buy seeds and earth, or simply plant a lentil in a glass, water it with love * and enjoy the miracle of seeing a living being grow!
2.- Clean field trip
As this year the Environment Day falls on Friday, you can move the "celebration" to the weekend and make a trip to the countryside and nature ... but with a different touch. Surely many times you have gone to the mountain and found it full of garbage, why do not you remove it? A day in the countryside and in nature, but with the touch of clean around us who deserves this day.
3.- Measure your footprint
Another idea to convey to your children the importance of taking care of the environment is to measure your ecological footprint. This platform allows you to calculate how much "damage" are you doing to our world, and offers you clear ideas to improve.
4.- Go to a botanical garden
Enjoying nature and its beauty convinces us that we must take care of it so that it does not disappear. Take advantage of this day in the spring to go to a Botanical Garden and discover new plants.
5.- Know the animals in danger of extinction
Lynxes, turtles, bears ... unfortunately, there are many animals in danger of extinction. The WWF website, for example, offers a lot of information about the most threatened species. This day is also a good excuse to raise awareness of these dangers to little ones while learning more about the world around us.
6.- Recycled crafts
As a gift, a third activity for children on this day: recycled crafts. Milk bricks, canned glass jars, unused shoe boxes ... allow us to do practically everything, especially decoration, but also toys, for example. Coloring drawings with environmental reasons is also a great option for this day.
