Sponsor a child: reasons to be supportive

End poverty in the world it is possible with the collaboration of all. This is the objective pursued by the numerous organizations that exist today and that allow people to show their most supportive side. Sponsoring a child, making donations for projects in poor cities or traveling as a volunteer are some of the activities we can do to make the world a better place.

What you should know to sponsor a child

Sponsorship supposes a monthly contribution to an NGO that will go to a common fund to build schools, hospitals and other community projects. The money does not come directly to the sponsored child, but the goal is that with the collection of all is able to improve their living conditions and their community as a whole in the long term. The NGOs choose the communities with which to collaborate depending on the international indicators of development, therefore they choose those areas that have worse ratios and where the aid can cause a greater impact.

The amount usually varies depending on the organization but in general, the minimum monthly contribution is usually around 18 euros and the maximum 50. Even so, organizations allow sponsors to voluntarily increase the economic quota.

Although the contribution does not go directly to the child but to his environment in general, you can know how their living conditions are improving, because the organizations send letters to the sponsors of the children and reports in which information is collected on the progress of the project of your village or town to which your monthly donation is destined.

Sponsorship lasts until the sponsored child is 18 years old, although there is also the possibility that the sponsor contributes with their studies, in which case it extends until the age of 23. There is no legal link between the sponsored child and his sponsor, since it is a voluntary link. This justifies the fact that the child can not come to Spain to visit his godfather, but some organizations allow them to go to the place where the child is to be known through the foundation.

In addition to sponsorship, there are other forms of solidarity collaboration as a partner or collaborator of the organization, directly allocate the money to the progress of the project with donations or through the inheritance or legacy, or contributing with the volunteers in which you travel with the organization to the particular country to help from within in different areas as education, health, construction, etc.

Sponsor a child: five reasons to be supportive

1. When you sponsor a child, you contribute to the development of their future. You allow a child to go to school, receive medical assistance, food and drinking water, and for very little money per month.

2. With donations, collaborations or sponsorships, you allow that in cities or towns where their inhabitants live in precarious circumstances, the construction of health centers, schools or markets is encouraged, with the aim of favoring the whole local population as a whole.

3. Fight against child poverty is another reason to be in solidarity. With your sponsorship you get the children of poor countries have the same rights and opportunities as those of developed countries.

4. You feel the pleasure of collaborating because the world is a better place. Allow yourself to improve the present and future of children, do something good for others, which reverts to you with great personal satisfaction.

5. Donations made for charitable purposes deduct from the Income Statement. The NGO sends the data of its donors to the Tax Office and the certificate of donations to the taxpayers, with which it is proven that the donation has been made and the right to deduct up to 25% of the IRPF.
