"Coaching is a process of personal development and growth, with which we work on self-knowledge, our values ​​and beliefs, our self-esteem ..., which is why it is a great tool for accompanying and supporting families, to get to know each other, to communicate and better manage our conflicts, "says Beatriz Vilas, president of the Spanish Coaching Association (ASESCO).

What elements does family coaching work?

- Communication between family members. Gregorio Gullón, UNAF Family Services technician, highlights the importance of communication in the generation of the relationship and the bond. "Accepting or rejecting the definition that someone gives of oneself, that confirmation process, is the basis of secure attachment, which is why it is important to change the look of control towards the sons and daughters with a view of ability".


- Emotional intelligence. Silvia Moreno, a clinical psychologist at Praxxia Consultoras, considers that it is an essential competence within families. "Knowing one's own and others' emotions, expressing them, understanding them and knowing how to manage them intelligently are factors of personal well-being that also lead to greater family well-being".

- The established beliefs. Carolina Aguado, developer of Coaching programs for fathers and mothers of the Francisco de Vitoria University, differentiates the empowering beliefs from the limitations. "You have to unlearn the latter, deactivate them, question them, assessing what they have served us at some point, what is the price of maintaining them, why other beliefs can replace them and what would be different in our life, family and environment if I change them."
