A 1,800-calorie diet is recommended for nursing mothers according to the AEP

In fact, the AEP recommends a consumption of between 2,300 and 2,500 calories to nursing mothers, and between 2,600 and 3,000 if they are twins. These figures respond to the nutritional needs of the mother's body during breastfeeding and make the woman have to take more nutrients than at any other time in her life since the milk produced during the first four months supposes energy consumption similar to the total expense of pregnancy.


What should this diet contain?

Nor should water be lacking in this diet, which becomes a more essential element even for the nursing mother.
