7 keys to achieve your goals

We tend to think that the difference between achieving or not our goal is limited to luck or talent. Desiring a thing is not synonymous with getting it. To be successful in whatever we set out to do, we have to be perseverant and tenacious. Often, we procrastinate. What do we want to say? This word that has become so fashionable means precisely postponing goals, postponing really important actions to achieve our goal by other lighter and secondary.

Defining the goal is the key to achieving your goals

The psychologist, coach and author of the book "The key to success: Theory and Practice to achieve your dreams", Xavier Savin, recommends defining the goals as the first step to get us on the path towards our goal.

The expert reveals what the 7 steps to achieve our goals:

1. Make sure you really want itIt seems simple, but it is really complicated to distance ourselves from the pressures of family, friends and society in general.

How many people start some studies, sign up to the gym, accept a promotion or start running just because they're supposed to do it? And how many of these people end up leaving?

2. Define your goal well. Since you're going to spend a lot of time thinking about him, you'd better be friends. True friends, that is not a conformist goal, nor of those that remind you of what you can not achieve. It has to be like one of those friends who get the best out of yourself.

The phrase you use to describe your goal will have a lot of influence on the result. That's why this goal has to be motivating, action-driven and remind you of your strengths. Above all, do not forget that if you do not succeed, you continue to be a person worthy of it.

For example: "I am fun, hardworking and affectionate, if I also ate healthy and did a little exercise it would be the pump, as long as I do not forget all the good things I already have."

How, when and how much: quantify your goals

3. Quantify your goal. Once the objective has been defined and now that you have achieved that it is something motivating and that helps you to take care of your self-esteem, it is necessary to quantify it. You need to put a unit of measure and a figure. If you do not have it, how are you going to find out when you get it?

4. Enter a realistic end date. The start date you do not have to think, because you can be sure that there is no better time to start your goal than this. We need to "force ourselves" with dates not to desist.

5. Make a list of everything you need to do to achieve your goal and write it down in the agenda. The big goals are achieved with a dream in mind and many actions on the agenda.

"Make sure that whatever you approach your goal is something that you like, you get more if you set goals that correspond to your talents (develop our talents we like) that you have to make great sacrifices to achieve it," Savin explains. He adds: "When you know what you must do to get it, make them your routine."

As Aristotle said: "We are what we do every day, so excellence is not an act, but a habit."

6. Nobody has more influence on what you think than yourself. Make sure that the messages you give help you to believe more in you. Identify those thoughts that do not let you progress, if they are true, put a solution, if they are not, let them go.

7. Surround yourself with people who help you see your strengths. As the American writer Mark Twain said: "Get away from people trying to belittle your ambitions, small people always do that, but really big people make you feel that you can be great too"

"If you have to remember a single thing of this writing that is the following one: Only being conscious that already you are worth the pain, you will count on the sufficient confidence to continue improving", sentence Xavier Savin.
