The 15 main purposes of parents

When one year ends and the next year begins, we all set ourselves a series of goals that make us better people. As parents, we also carry out a reflection aimed at closing a list of good proposals for the New Year that invite us to improve. But what good purposes are those we wish to reach as parents?

A survey conducted by Topnanny.es, an online platform specializing in the care of children leader in Spain, to more than 500 people between fathers and mothers reveals the purposes that have marked the Spanish mothers and fathers in relation to their children.

Increase quality time with children, priority

Among the priorities of parents and mothers for next year, the results place the first place of the 15 good intentions of parents Find time to spend more quality hours with the children. Increase the time they spend with their children and the quality of it, playing more with them, is the purpose that most worries 43 percent of parents, followed by 35 percent, who intend to shout less or have more patience and of 26 percent who plan to listen and talk more with their children.


The concern for Education and the interest for culture occupy the fourth and fifth place of the most repeated purposes by parents. Thus, the account of Topnanny.es reveals that 20 percent of parents have proposed to read more with their children or encourage them to read more and 18 percent intend to increase the number of cultural visits.

Following the order of priorities, take care of their health, teaching them to eat healthier, reduce the time children play or are in front of the screens and get children to obey without resorting to undesirable techniques close the list of top 10 of the good purposes of the families.


Among the purposes that cause less interest in general to Spanish families for the coming year, are for 2 percent to know better the friends of their children, teach saving important for 6 percent of respondents and participate more in school life for another 6 percent.

Dialogue and patience, among the main purposes

The parents surveyed agree that the most important thing for them next year is to spend more time with their children and play more with them. This has been reiterated by 42 percent of parents and 43 percent of mothers. Instead, the survey reveals that by sex they differ in their second priority. For 30 percent of parents to listen and talk more with their children is their second goal, while for 36 percent of mothers having more patience with children and yelling at them less is their second priority.


Galicia and Castilla León, with particular purposes

By Autonomous Communities, the survey reveals homogeneity in the results. Thus, playing more is the priority for Madrid (59%), Murcia (55%), Cantabria (53%), Navarre (50%), Catalans (43%), Andalusians (42%) and Balearics (40%).

And having more patience and shouting less is the most important purpose for Extremadura (66%), Aragonese (65%), La Mancha (62%), Basques (42%), Rioja (34%) and Valencia (31%).

However, the parents of four autonomous communities stand apart from the rest. One of them is Galicia: 45 percent of Galician fathers and mothers give priority to increase cultural visits of children. The parents of Asturias and the Canary Islands highlight the promotion of dialogue with minors (46% and 38% respectively); and the progenitors of Castilla León, with 32 percent, are those who give more importance to avoid blackmail to get the children to obey.
